Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:42 [ref. 13621]. •Valid as Brycon acutus Böhlke 1958 -- (Ovchynnyk 1967:27 [ref. 37559]). •Synonym of Brycon alburnus (Günther 1860) -- (Howes 1982:6 [ref. 14201], Lima in Reis et al. 2003:175 [ref. 27061]). Current status: Synonym of Brycon alburnus (Günther 1860). Bryconidae: Bryconinae. Habitat: freshwater.

Holotype: CAS 5582. Paratypes: CAS 61205 (3); FMNH 69523 (1); USNM 109205 [ex CAS] (3), 109206 [ex CAS] (1). Type catalog: Ibarra & Stewart 1987:19 [ref. 12367], Vari & Howe 1991:9 [ref. 19022]. No paratypes were designated but original description gives counts and measurements for 21 additional specimens form the type locality and 22 other specimens from a second locality -- they would be paratypes. •Valid as Brycon behreae Hildebrand 1938 -- (Howes 1982:11 [ref. 14201], Bussing 1987:74 [ref. 22927], Bussing 1998:90 [ref. 24179], Lima in Reis et al. 2003:175 [ref. 27061], Angulo et al. 2013:991 [ref. 33194], Angulo & Gracian-Negrete 2013:264 [ref. 32959], Angulo et al. 2020:5 [ref. 37425]). Current status: Valid as Brycon behreae Hildebrand 1938. Bryconidae: Bryconinae. Distribution: Central America: Pacific and Atlantic slopes of Panama, Pacific slope of Costa Rica. Habitat: freshwater.

Holotype (unique): CAS 39436 [ex IU 13470]. •Synonym of Brycon atrocaudatus (Kner 1863), but probably a distinct species -- (Howes 1982:25 [ref. 14201]). •Synonym of Brycon atrocaudatus (Kner 1863) -- (Howes 1982:9 [ref. 14201], Lima in Reis et al. 2003:175 [ref. 27061]). Current status: Synonym of Brycon atrocaudatus (Kner 1863). Bryconidae: Bryconinae. Habitat: freshwater.

Lectotype: CAS 13467 [ex IU 13467]. Paralectotypes: [all CAS ex IU] CAS 13460 (2), 18542 (9), 18537 (25), 54945 (33), 61208-15 (2, 12 33, 38, 1, 1, 40, 13), 61217-18 (24, 24); CAS-SU 22761 (4); USNM 280489 (12); MBUCV. Type catalog: Vari & Howe 1991:9 [ref. 19022]. Lectotype selected by Eigenmann 1922:322 [ref. 1243]. Moreira in Reis et al. 2003:177 [ref. 27061] indicates that Eschmeyer 1998 was incorrect in stating that Eigenmann designated a lectotype; Eigenmann did establish the lectotype on p. 322 [not 232] in the caption to Pl. 23. •Valid as Brycon meeki Eigenmann & Hildebrand 1918 -- (Howes 1982:34 [ref. 14201], Malabarba 1998:76 [ref. 23840], Lima in Reis et al. 2003:177 [ref. 27061], Mirande 2010:483 [ref. 31006], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:63 [ref. 35633]). Current status: Valid as Brycon meeki Eigenmann & Hildebrand 1918. Bryconidae: Bryconinae. Distribution: South America: Trans-Andean river basins in Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
